iTouch stopped working after being dropped in cereal

My son dropped his iPod Touch into his cereal bowl this morning, milk and all. It stopped working as a result.

My current plan is to give it time to dry out and then see if it will start back up.

Is there anything I should/could do prior to trying to start it back up?

Also, if it doesn't start back up, is there anything else I can do?

your idea to let it dry out first is a good one, it may take time to dry out thoroughly

there's another almost identical question from about an hour ago, rather than repeat what was said perhaps take a look over here:

Liquid damage is a killer for electronics. First thing is to turn off the iPod and remove it from it's power source. Hopefully this will prevent the logic board from getting shorted out. Next, I recommend taking the iPod apart following our guide and letting it dry out for a few days. While the iPod is apart and drying out, you can use some rubbing alcohol and q-tips to try and clean any milk residue you see. The rubbing alcohol evaporates quickly and will not damage the iPod further. Finally, put the iPod back together, cross your fingers, and hope it works.

If that does not fix the problem, then you probably, at minimum, need to replace the logic board. Hope that helps you.
