Unable to get my PC to display on my TV

I am trying see my PC screen on my Philips Aurea TV, which is connected to the PC via an HDMI cable. With both TV and PC switched on, I switch inputs from digital TV to HDMI, and get a message that says no video signal. If I remove the HDMI cable from the back of the PC, and reconnect, the video from My PC now appears.

What I would like is to be able to switch inputs between PC and TV without having to reconnect the HDMI cable.

I have contaced Philips support, checked cabling and video card settings, and carried out a firmware upgrade on the TV, but situation remains the same. Any ideas_

Hi,

does the HDMI port on your PC support HDCP? HDCP is the content protection system for HDMI connections. Both HDMI devices need to support HDCP otherwise no signal is send via HDMI. Some PC graphic adapters doesn't support HDCP. So maybe this is your problem.

What looks to be going on is that your PC is not seeing a hot plug detect (HPD) line going high from the TV. Plugging the cable out/in causes the PC to see the HPD signal and then allow the video out. You may be able to go into the PC's video out settings and select the TV from there. That may trigger the PC graphics to look at the HPD signal of the TV and recognize it's connected.
