Loosing signal outside of city center.

Hello

I have a Iphone 4S that looses all the signal outside of city center. At home i have full 5 dots signal with 3G.

But a 5-10 min drive outside of the city center i only get 1 dot, but with 3G. Calling does not work.

If turning of the 3G, i will loose all signal.

Driving back home and i will have full signal again. calling and stuff works again. Tried upgrading to newest IOS. Restarting many times, turning on 3G on and off. Turning to airplane mode on/ off.... Nothing do work when the signal is lost.

Do you have a case and what kind (plastic or metal)? Have you spoken to your carrier to make sure your phone is the correct model for their service?

First to do is to rule out coverage issues, you could be losing signal because there is actually no signal. Have another phone with you on the car, preferably the same model on the same carrier. If only your phone drops out, then it is the problem with your phone. First remove all external accessories and see if the reception improves. Reset all settings and reactivate the phone and if still no luck, then it is a hardware issue. Maybe your carrier use a different band outside the city, and the respective RF amplifiers inside your phone happen to be broken. Or the phone does not support this particular band(which is rarely the case, GSM works almost everywhere on the planet)

Been testing with other Iphoine 4s in the same spot, when taking the sim card to that phone, it gets full signal and everything works.

also been testing with a iphone 5 at the same locations, the funny thing is that the iphone 4s gets 1 bar signal and 3G at locations where the iphone 5 gets 3 bars and only edge. I dont think the iphone 4s really got 3G reception everywhere...

This gets back to your service providers service and what your given phone was designed to work with. I would strongly recommend you speak with your cellular provider to see what iPhone models they work with and see if your model is the correct one. Its' also possible your provider has limited support for the iPhone. As an example T-Mobile here in the states cell service can't fully support the older iPhones as the phone can't access the better LTE bands (the newer iPhones now work).

Hi sorry this had nothing to do with this problem but I saw you recently posted something about an iPhone 5 that keeps rebooting and the battery gets stuck at a certain percentage. Did you ever find a fix for that? I'm having the same issues.

Nope, no answers or problem fix yet... I don't have a clue what it is. Tried changing display, battery, on/off buttons.
