The "power on" button on my NE56R31u intermittant?
The "power on" button on my Gateway NE56R31u is intermittant, and progressively getting worse. When it powers off, its getting more difficult to get it to power on each time.

butchg12, sounds like your power button is starting to fail. The power button for this model has its separated board and power flex. The part number for that should be NBX0000UR00 and this video should help with the disassembly. Even so it is not for an identical laptop, but the NE series should open the same.
