My Imac G5 suddenly doesn't startup. I've already tried all the standard problemsolvers. The last thing I did was trying to startup the computer with The startupsoftware from a disc. This didn't work but I could see the computer showed the harddisk but didn''t startup. So my conclusion was that it must be the motherboard? I am planning top open up my mac and chek it out for myself. But how can I see whats wrong and what I should replace?

Examine the 24 capacitors (cans) for corrosion and/or leakage. The model was notorious for its bad caps. Also check the diagnostics LEDs and let us know which ones come on.
