Replaced keyboard, now MacBook won't power on?

MacBook Unibody Model A1278 got coffee spilled on it, and the keyboard lost the last row of keys. I went through all steps to replace it, the only problem was the ir cable didn't come out clean, looks like it may be torn. Would this cause the MacBook not to power up? The light on the power cable lights up and the battery lights all light up but nothing else happens when you press the power button?

Maybe a bad keyboard?

Thanks for your time and help in advance.

Does anyone have a part number for the ir cable?

The power button is routed through the keyboard ribbon cable.

So if the ribbon cable is not COMPLETELY inserted into the slot on the logic board the MacBook will not turn on... I replaced the topcase on a unibody MacBook recently and it wouldnt power on. I have seen several instances of this being the only problem with a MacBook after a repair... The ribbon cable is hard to insert all the way so be careful!

Hope this helps!

That's exactly what it sounds like to me. I haven't had time to check it out yet, but tomorrow should be the day. I will keep you posted.

Thanks,

Benny

Is it a new keyboard? I'd take it apart, doublecheck all connections and put it back together again, maybe with the ir cable off.
