No power but light at magsafe

Received a Unibody today. Seller said sometimes boots but so far nothing.

When the charger is plugged in I get an orange light at magsafe and when the battery check button is pressed it seem to be charging.

Removed battery, RAM and checked the HDD in another machine (works) but no joy.

If anyone has any ideas of what next Id be grateful, hoping its not the motherboard as its a nice tidy machine which I will end up keeping if it can be fixed.

This doesnt look pretty, found this ribbon connector held on with tape.

Stripped the logic board out and its just getting uglier

Looks like its fried

Ive been looking at Logic boards and came across this one on eBay

" Macbook pro 13" A1278 mid 2010 logic board, works on an external monitor, has no led connector on the board(see picture).

Here is the serial number of the laptop from which the logic board was removed: W80436FAATP

You are getting just the logic board(with cpu and gpu on it) and the heatsink."

Anyone know if this one could drop straight in to mine?

Have you tried jumpering across the power pads to see if the keyboard switch was bad? Or check the ribbon cable is correctly seated and not damaged.

Can you see corrosion on the board? Are the liquid indicators tripped?

Looks like the keyboard connector socket needs replacing, socket damaged and secured with sellotape. A real pro job

No this logic board won't work as its for a MacBook Pro not a MacBook which is what you have.

A real pro was at work here.

I would return it if the price was high, if it was low then the investment on replacing the cable & connector won't be so bad.

Price was OK, £90. Got a replacement connector off eBay which arrived snapped in half and that was the sellers last one.

Anyone know any UK sellers that might stock the part?

you MAY want to check SN of the mac just on the odd chance that its still under Warrenty ( highly doubtfull) . new systemboards are not cheap for macs but also not impossible to source a refurb ..

Apple would reject this as it is clearly messed up (if it was in warranty). Besides it's way to old to be under warranty.
