Why doesn't my home button and cellular reception work?
So... After ordering the iPhone 4 display assembly and the dock connector replacement from here at ifixit, the items got home and I did the repair. But I ran into a few problems (quite serious) as this is my first time. I must say that I followed all the guides relative to the repairs I tried to do.
The situations are the following:
I had trouble connecting the home button cable after replacing the whole dock connector part on the phone... So my home button doesn't seem to work because I don't how how to reconnect the cable.
Furthermore, after replacing the LCD and digitizer and struggling to get those cables properly in place to connect them to the logic board, I reassembled everything back together, turned on the phone and I couldn't even do any emergency calls, so there seems to be a problem from my phone picking up the cellular signal, even though the wi-fi antenna works like a charm!?
And after examining the final product of the repair I noticed that one of the sides of the display assembly is lifted up from the steel frame - I was totally shocked! Probably a cable folded on itself and created additional volume so one of the sides was lifted. I tried to gently click the Display together with the steel frame on the side and no luck... So, we are in a pretty bad situation!
To you hardware wizards that are reading this: do you possibly have a wonderful solution that could at least help me with some of my problems? What did I do wrong? Is it just something that's not properly connected or dust in between the connectors? Any help would be apprciated.
P.S.: I am rebuilding this old iPhone 4 for my mom.
