piece of plastic obscuring front camera

Hello all,

Wondering if I can use the Droid RAZR dissasembly guide when taking apart my phone. I need to remove a strip of clearish plastic obscuring the front-facing camera. I assume I follow the instructions for taking the camera out and then just cut it/remove it with an xacto knife? Any help would be appreciated.

Also, can I upgrade the phone's internal memory (not SD card), or is it soldered in? If I can upgrade, what is the max?
