Cannot Turn on Vita Unless It is Charging

I have had this issue for the past few months, and have tried just about everything.

To break down the problem my vita will remain stuck with a black screen and the ps button will glow continuously blue. Usually you can resolve a simple crash (that this Blue Light of Death implies) by implying restarting/rebooting the system. However, regardless of what you do in the safe mode menu, whether it be reboot, system update, factory reset, and/or any other option. The screen will flash, go black and the ps button will continue to glow blue.

The only way to get it to turn on again is to wait for the battery die (thus the blue light stops glowing), then to charge it (where it glows orange like it should normally). And then turn it on. And let it be known, ALL of its functionality is in tact! The touch screens work, the buttons work, EVERYTHING works! It is simply a nuisance because if i leave my vita on for long enough it goes into sleep mode and then can't turn on again. This also occurs when i try to shut down the system. It supposedly turns off, but the ps button will continue to glow blue.

I sent the system to sony because it was under warranty but they sent it back saying because of the scratches and slight water damage (which is irrelevant to the systems problem i believe), that they would not fix it (here they did not even attempt too). I have tried dissecting it to see if anything is amiss. Taking out the battery while its glowing blue and putting it back in again DOES help it turn on again, so i wonder if this problem has something to do with the battery, the cords that are connected to the battery, or the button panel in relation to the ps button?

I have tried explaining my problem on playstation forums and there seems to be no solution (or at least not one anyone is willing to talk about). And the issue i talk about it often dismissed and misunderstood as simply needing to be rebooted (which is false).

Lastly, although my system may have scratches and had the slightest of water leak inside (which AGAIN did not affect the system ((to my knowledge)) ), there are others on the play station forums who have encountered this problem within a week of their original purchase. Is it perhaps then a factory defect or otherwise? They also were confused as to a solution.

Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue?

My PS Vita has the latest firmware, as i HAVE updated it (as an attempt to solve the problem) multiple times via wifi, pc and otherwise. This has not changed the situation for the better or worse.

Here's what I've been through:

I bought a new PS Vita from a certain store in my country along with a game and a memory card. I wanted to sign for a Playstation Network account and it told me to update the OS to the newer version, which is 2.10

I decided to update it via wifi which to no avail was failed and I've been through the EXACT same things with what you've described here.

So I tried the hard reset; power button + ps button + upper right button and selected number 5 (about the update software thing) via PC. I have the Content Manager Assistant installed on my laptop.

I waited for about an hour and it showed the installing software update process.

Hope this help.

So sadly this is not the answer to my problem.

Try replacing the Ion or lithium battery?

what makes you think the battery is the problem? do you merely think this will work or have you tried it out?

I'm interested in your theory.

This sounds to me like the battery is not supplying the right voltage (to start the unit up), but it is supplying the right current (to keep it running). What happens when you try a different battery?

Update

Many electronics use a different starting voltage and a different sustaining voltage. If your battery is not delivering the proper voltage, the device won't start up properly, but if it's plugged in, the battery is taken out of the picture.

My advice to you, try to borrow a known good battery from somebody, and if your Vita works properly when you use it, you know that your battery is the problem. If you can't borrow a battery from somebody, you have to buy one, try not to destroy the packaging and save the receipt, in case you have to return the battery to the store (if that turns out to not be the problem)

I am interested in perhaps trying to replace the battery. I do know a place to get replacement ps vita batteries however, i don't see a direct coreleation between the battery and the system shutting off and ceasing to work.

Because even when the system goes into sleep mode (and at this point disallows me to access anything), it is still ON. The ps button glows blue endlessly until the battery itself dies. This tells me the battery is still supplying energy but for some reason will disallow it to display anything should it be left alone for more than 15 minuets.

Do you think i should try getting a new battery? Someone else once advised this but didn't give an explanation.

See i'm hesitant with the battery theory because, if it didn't have the right voltage to start up, i wouldn't be able to turn it on at all. When it is at full charge (and not plugged into the charger) I can turn it on without ANY issue. EVerything boots up and functions. The key issue is that if i try to turn it OFF it won't turn off and the ps button will just be stuck and glow endlessly. And secondly if the system attempts to go into sleep mode, the same outcome occurs.

The system can't seem to function in stand by mode or turn off.

???

I might just go buy a battery to test it out. sigh.
