Can I fix my MacBook that has no power?

I was using an off brand iPhone five charger as it was plugged into my Macbook, the casing for the part that was plugged into the phone slipped off and my computer had the message, "your USB device is drawing too much power" that is about as far as I got into reading the message then the computer just shut off. The when I plug the power cable in the LED light on the megsafe adapter is a dim glow, and even the LED's on the side of the computer that represent the battery charge don't light up, zero power to the machine.

I took it into apple and they said I would likely need to replace the logic board, but its $650 more dollars than I'd like to spend on it. Any way I can fix this myself? Please help!

Thanks.

P

Actually, I had it taken apart while using the HDD on another computer, though I would plug it in to give it another try, and it started up! So, not sure what the fix was, I blew some dust off, unplugged the connecters that I thought were for the battery (but I really don't know) and it works!
