eman, the most common reason for that is because the battery is completely drained out, discharged below the charging threshold. The problem with the playbook is that it will not charge, if it is drained past that point. Try these solutions:" Solution: try these 3 different step by step solutions. Hopefully one of these wille work for you.

1. Press the Power button and you should see the Playbook Logo ( chances for this are low )

2. Press the power button and the volume together, if there is 1 % charge left, there is a chance that it will boot up. When you see the logo, immediately charge the playbook.

3. This solution requires patience. Plug the charger into the socket and plug the USB into the playbook. The red light should stay on for 8-10 secs. Remove the USB cable from the playbook wait for 2 to 5 sec and plug the USB cable back to the charger and wait till that red light comes and goes again. Repeat this step at least 20-30 times. The only power that the playbook gets, is when that red light is on when plugging the USB cord into the playbook, once that light goes off the playbook is not charging.. so what you are doing here is forcing the playbook to get charged for 8 sec every time you plug it into the playbook. This way the playbook gets enough power needed to boot. Once the Playbook has enough power to boot, the red light stays and changes to green but this time it should be blinking slowly slowly and keep on blinking. You should also see the playbook logo return. The green light keeps blinking until there is enough charge for the playbook to stand on its own, then changes to a solid red until it gets fully charged." from here. Just remember to do this often, and that it will require lots of patience. You should also consider to use an AC wall charger since they supply a higher amperage than a USB port. Hope this helps, good luck.

Hi, Thank u for these answers. For me number 3 worked. My Playbook seemed that just had no solution but after doing this process of plugging and unplugging the charger did the trick. I did it for about 25 times until the image of charging appeared, and then the blinking green light. I havent turn it on yet until I charge for about an hour. will keep u posted everyone.

A much easier solution is to get hold of a powerbank that has a high Amp rating ( I used a 2.0A one) and leave it to charge. This is if you are in a place where getting the rapid charger or the original charger or anything of the sort is hard or very expensive. I am in Kenya so that ticks a lot of those boxes. After 2 hours it is on and charging.

The power block was the answer thanks

Power block did the trick... My guess is the charger I was using may have not have been pushing enough current. Thanks Allan.

Great solution, powerbank uses direct current (DC) which enables the Blackberry to charge. When plugged in to wall outlet which uses alternate current (AC) the Blackberry does not charge unless you keep unplugging and plugging it back in which is inconvenient. Thanks for your help!

Over and over and over depress button, immediately plug in the charger cable while it's red, unplug when green and repeat - depress button... After about 10 cycles of this the battery was charged enough (during the 5-6 seconds the light is solid red) to actually take a charge.

Craziness. LOL

Quick fix. Pop off the back, unscrew and disconect the batery. Ignore all the leads and find one of the pads that says "-P" and there should be another unlabeled pad in the middle at the top of the connector by it self. This is the positive connections. Use a power supply set around 5 volts and line the leads up to the pads and wait until the current of your power supply reaches around 1 amp, and then hook it all back up and it should have enough to boot and recognize your charger. @oldturkey03 has some really helpful information as well, i recommend trying his steps before attempting to jump of the battery manually. But jumping it off was what I had to do in the long run.
