My old Ipod nano 5th gen menu button is unresponsive, it being so late in the game, apple will surely try and push their newer touchscreen model on me, I do not want that. there is nothing else wrong with it, it's hold button is not stuck, it interacts with my PC just fine, though I might add that the problem used to be that the next button did not work. how can I fix this?

CAt, sounds like a bad clickwheel. It's a bit of bear to work on but it is doable. Check this guide to work on it. The part is available at places like this. hope this helps, good luck.
