My iPhone got briefly wet, no backlight?

I went on a ladder going into the pool, and forgot about my iphone. However, I'd say it was submerged for literally 5 seconds because I got out right away. Now the backlight is completely gone. I opened it up, let it dry, soaked it in isopryol alcohol, and noticed that only 1 of the water damage indicators was tripped; the one in the headphone jack. The logic board has no signs of corrosion. However, the chip on the lcd did have some junk on it. What would I do for repairs? I don't want to waste time and money. Should I replace the LCD, 6r8 coil, or the voltage regulator? Also, I don't have much fine soldering skills. I wanna take the easiest and cheapest route to repair my phone.

EDIT: Yes it does power on. It was actually on when I went in and it was on when I came out... I've already completely disassembled it and soaked the logic board in the alcohol and gently scrubbed it with a tooth brush. My problem is the lcd backlight isn't on, but the screen is. Everything works besides the backlight. Also, I still use my phone, but it's a pain to see without the backlight.

I wouldn't replace anything till you do a thorough water damage treatment to it, I rarely have to replace an LCD due to water damage or anything else for that matter, you didn't say if your phone powers up, or if you disassembled it, just that you soaked it, if I were you I would disassemble it, clean both sides of the motherboard and all ribbon cable connections with alcohol and a toothbrush with the heat shields removed, let it dry completely, if it wont power up after that try a new battery. If it was only under water a short time this should be easy bringing it back to life. Would love to here how you do, good luck. iPhone 3GS Teardown

Austin Widner, I know you said you cleaned your phone, but just for completion sake, I suggest you clean it using this guide. It was written for a 3G but all the steps still pertain to your phone as well. Once cleaned, replace the battery and reevaluate. If you find that this does not have any impact on your problems, there are two way you can go. One is to replace the LCD, since this is where the actual backlight is situated, the other one is to replace the 6R8 coil. Part of this now depends on your comfort level. The coil is cheaper to replace, but will require some very fine soldering on the logic board. The LCD is easier to replace. Here is a decent video to show the procedure, and the coil is available at multiple places, i.e. Digikey.com part number is 445-3226-1-ND Hope this helps, good luck.
