8GB of ram in a A1212?
Is there a logic board I can put into my A1212 and be able to put in 8GB of ram? All the rest of it works great still, but I'd kill for some more ram... is my only option to upgrade to a new notebook?
Unfortunately, no. There's no way to upgrade your machine to accept 8 GB of RAM. Sorry!

It all depends on witch Core 2 Duo MBP you have. Look up your exact model on the list (you will find it on the bottom of the computer or under the battery) and you will see the maximum amount of ram your computer will use. As you will see the newer MBP's will take 8GB. Ralph

Just checked Mactracker--if your computer is a Model A1212 them your max memory is 3GB. That would require two 2GB sticks but only 3 GB would be seen. Ralph

I'll leave it to Ben Eisenman to say as to whether you can swap logic boards or not. Ralph
He could use one 2 GB stick and one 1 GB stick, which would be way less expensive than 2 2 GBs.

I ordered 2x2GB sticks before I knew better, only to discover that this computer can only take 3GB max. Fortunately, I was able to return one of them and kept one of the original 1GB sticks in the other slot, for a total of 3GB (which works fine).
