When i try to turn my iPod off, it goes to the charging screen. It has done this for quite a few months now. It still worked until the battery drained, but now I also have the white screen with faint lines across it. What could be causing this?

Lindsey, you really can't turn your iPod off, it just goes to sleep. there is no "off" as we understand it. Your white screen with lines through it, could be caused by a bad LCD, or a loose cables, bad connector. You will have to disassemble it and take a close look at the connector.
