-The issue here is that in order to access this part you need to be able to separate the two halves of the handle, and in order to do that you need access to a screw at the bottom of the tracking ring which is cemented shut and can't be reached without destroying the tracking ring's shell. Consider tying a knot on the other end of the handstrap cord so it can't go through the whole and thus prevent the strap from slipping out.
