As long as the MagSafe plugs match, it should work on your MacBook Air. It won't use all available 85W since it doesn't need it, but it will work.
-The computer will register it as an 85W adapter and only pull what it needs. It probably won't pull anything past 45W (which is what your computer is designed for), but it won't hurt it either. You will just leave 40W of that adapter unused with no ill effects.
