herbiefreak, sorry to hear about your misfortune. There are plenty of other people on here who experienced the same. Just do a quick search under water damage. Anyhow, number 1 advise. DO NOT TURN IT ON UNTIL IT IS ABSOLUTELY DRY. Give it plenty of time to dry out. Leave it in uncooked rice for a couple of days ( I like to always make sure that it is guaranteed to be dry) you may even have to change some of the rice if it gets to moist. Since you do not want to open it you may have to try to turn it on, WHEN you are CERTAIN that it is dry. Now if it does not turn on you will probably have to open it up. My first step then would be to replace the Battery. The iPod batteries do absolutely not like water and can react volatile with it. If and when you have to open it [[Device:iPod Touch 2nd Generation#deviceGuides]]

I would try and use some isopropyl alcohol and a little soft brush and try to clean the logic board with it. My concern is always corrosion of the components that might lead to failure at a later date. But start with the battery first if you have to. Good luck to you

I would try and use some isopropyl alcohol and a little stiff brush and try to clean the logic board with it. MY concern is always corrosion of the components that might to failure at a later date. But start with the battery first if you have to. Good luck to you
