First If you can I would try to get my money back as they didn't fix anything from the sounds of it.
OK, so were does this leave you?
Clearly some liquid got into the trackpad. It could have even been the cleaner seeping though the trackpad gap wetting the circuit board which shorted it out. Did you spray the case or the cloth to then wipe the case?
-You'll need to replace the Trackpad, follow this IFIXIT guide: [guide|10962|MacBook Air 13" Mid 2012 Trackpad Replacement]. You also talk about a damaged wire - Ribbon Cable? If the cable is damaged you'll need to replace it as well here. Here's the needed part: [product|IF188-084|MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2012) Trackpad - Apple P/N 923-0124] and here is the cable that goes from the logic board to the trackpad: [http://www.powerbookmedic.com/MacBook-Air-133-Trackpad-Cable-p-24207.html|MacBook Air 13.3" Trackpad Cable] this cable also carries the keyboard signals to the logic board.
