I know this is an old question, but I thought I'd contribute anyway.

This is often caused by a fault/break in the solder on the motherboard, as others have mentioned.

However, since I don't have a heat gun and had nothing really to lose, I followed [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEV9FFqknsc|this video] to "reflow the motherboard" and it's working again for me.

Basically, you disassemble the computer all the way down (remove wifi card, CPU, fan, etc.) and then bake the motherboard in the oven for 8 minutes at 385 degrees Fahrenheit (196C).

You put it on a cookie sheet, supported by four balls of tin foil to reduce the direct contact the motherboard has with the hot metal.
