Microsoft Surface Pro 7: Still not powering on after battery replacement

I replaced the battery on my surface pro 7 and before the swap, The charger would double blink indefinitely until it was disconnected, After the battery replacement it blinks 1 - 2 - 2/3 -2 and then stops until I press the power button again, Both before and after the replacement there is a red light that stays on solid on the motherboard next to the SSD, The red light only goes out when I disconnect the battery or have the surface connected to the adapter only, I tried button combos to no avail, The display just stays off and the fan doesn't move either. I also tried multiple different adapters and USB-C charging at 65w.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5: touchscreen stopped working after I connected a Bluetooth keyboard.

Hi. I have a Microsoft Surface Pro 2017 (Model 1796). My touchscreen stopped working after I connected a Bluetooth keyboard. The keyboard worked, but the touchscreen stopped responding. There was no drop or water damage.

In Device Manager, “Surface Tcon Device” shows a yellow warning sign with Code 10 – This device cannot start. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, restarting, and Windows updates, but nothing fixed it.

Could a Bluetooth keyboard connection cause a driver/firmware issue, or is this likely a hardware problem?

Microsoft Surface Pro 5: Surface Tcon Device cannot start (STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE)

Replaced battery and screen on Surface Pro 5. After reassembling I powered on the device and started up ok, but a portion of the screen wasn’t responding. to touch. I shut it down and disassembled to check my connections but when I did I removed one of the connectors improperly. This damaged the pins slightly. I was able to gently bend them into place and when I pushed the ribbon cable into it seemed to connect in just fine. Removing the ribbon cable and inspecting the pins again looks ok to my eyes, but when I power on the device there is no backlight, the microsoft logo flashes a couple times and the display goes black. Connecting to a external display shows the device powered on just fine. I’ve checked all my other connections and they seemed fine. I’m stuck looking at the connector I damaged but it too looks like it should be working still. Anyone have a schematic or can at least tell me which ribbon cable provides power (left or right) to the display.

Acer Icona W510: My LCD is Leaking?

Literally. I don't mean the screen looks like there's liquid in it or something, I mean there is a clear, sticky liquid leaking out of the tablet part of this laptop.

I have two of these; one has been in storage in my unheated garage and the other in a desk drawer for the last several months. Both of them are exhibiting significant degradation of the display, along with this viscous fluid that's coming out of the seam between the rear cover and the frame of the tablet.

Now before anybody jumps to conclusions, no, neither of these laptops have ever been exposed to liquids; I've been all through them both and there's no external explanation for this to be happening.

And the thing is, I'm not the only one who's had this happen to them on this tablet. There's a whole thread over on the Acer forums of people who've had their laptops do the same thing.

Acer Iconia (W510P) Display Issue — Acer Community

I cleaned up the exterior of the laptop before I thought to take pictures, so I don't have photos of liquid that leaked out. It did clean up fairly easily with isopropyl alcohol.

My current working theory is that this is some sort of OCA that has broken down and returned to a liquid state. That's supported by what I see on the screen before powering it up; it looks like there are large air bubbles in the display.

You can see the bubbles in three corners of the screen. As you'll see from the following pictures, the display degradation is the same as what the people on the Acer forum experienced.

Once I got the back off of the tablet, I did find, as expected, more of the mystery liquid inside, concentrated in the lower right corner of the display.

Apparently there are a few older Dell laptops that seem to have the same problem, but in my internet searches I didn't find anyone who has had a definitive answer as to exactly what's going on here. Are there any experts on here who know what this is all about?

Obviously the displays on these tablets are shot, and unfortunately they're old and underpowered and realistically not worth repairing. However, I am going to go ahead and disassemble them and pull the LCDs to see if I can definitively pin the source to them, although I personally don't have any doubts myself.

This is going to be a bit of a slow process because I've decided to create some guides as I work, so it'll take longer than if I just tear into it.

Once I have the LCD out, I figure it can't hurt to see if it can be disassembled; who knows, maybe I can clean it and replace the OCA and effectively refurbish these defective screens.

Update (12/12/23)

Just as an update, I powered up the second W510 today and while it was messing around with updates I grabbed a photo of what its screen is doing.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5: Do I need to change wifi antenna assembly?

I replaced the battery and while opening up the screen, I tore off the wifi antennas from its assembly. However, the wifi still works after putting it back together.

The one thing I am confused about is, on this model, the antenna do not connect to anything on the motherboard, or am I mistaken?

There is a little metal piece on the bottom of the assembly (3rd pic) which connects to the motherboard but that piece does not attach to the antenna whatsoever.

I have attached some photos of what the antennas and the assembly look like in my case.
