Small Engine: I put new oil in my Lawn Mower now it smoking white

I have Cub Cadet riding lawn mower LTX1045

I was putting new oil in it and then started it up. It started smoking white smoke. I then checked oil level again and drained some out cause it was too full on the stick it said although I thought added under what the store even told me to add when changing the oil.

After checking level again I tried to start it. It would not start. It tried to turn over few times but then would not start at all. I am not sure what to do. Oil was in my air fliter so I ordered a new part to change it but I cleaned it up cause wasn't very much. I also ordered a new oil filter in case needed that. Should I try something else?

I cleaned the carb. fuel line gets fuel. Carb has fuel in the bowl. i have spark. if i put fuel into the carb it fires and then dies. I dont think the carb is opening . cant figure this out. Grass is getting tall.

Small Engine: Why wont my starter rope pull?

Hi, so I started a DIY mini ATV project with a 49cc pocket bike engine about a year ago. I started it once, then it sat in my garage for a while. The other day, I tried to start it again. When I tried to start it, the pull rope came out a bit then got stuck. I tried to pull harder, but it wouldn’t move. I took the pull start assembly off, and it pulled fine. The starter flywheel turned when I used a tool to push it. But as soon as I put the pull start assembly back on, it wouldn’t pull. Does anyone know what is wrong and how I could fix it?

P.S I am only 13, so if the fix is obvious don’t judge. I don’t know much about this stuff.

All of your pictures show the engine outside of the mower. Do I have to take my engine out in order to make repairs? That seems like a big hassle. :\

Small Engine: Carb has fuel but no flow

I have a push lawnmower that has transmission control, and blade engage control.

I have checked spark and it’s very strong, compression is low but seems present, fuel flow from the tank, to the cut off, to the carb is ok, carb fills with fuel, but there’s no flow into the chamber. I got it running by adding a cup of 10-30w oil and started due to starting fluid then died, to keep it running I push 1 second bursts into the intake hoping it will start sucking in fuel, it still shows no fuel flow.

I removed the carb and cleaned it, used air to blow the holes clear and reinstalled, still no ignition. The plug is gapped correctly, fuel is super unleaded, oil comes out almost black metal paint color (i an unable to find the drain plug) i added some oil and shows stronger compression. still no ignition

lawn mower is similar to Husqvarna HU725AWD

but the parts are inverted, intake and exhaust are opposite and blade/transmission controls are on the other side of the handle

Small Engine: engine keeps sputtering and backfiring when giving gas or under load

I have a briggs and Stratton 23 ohv engine on a john deere zero turn 425 mower. It ran perfectly last week. went to start it this week to mow and now it sputters, black smoke and backfires all when trying to give it gas. it will not run fast nor can I engage the blades as the load makes it do the same thing and cut off. I changed the plugs, cleaned the carb, checked the valves, the blades move freely. It starts up and will idle and run on the lowest throttle setting but it will not do anything else. As soon as I try to push the throttle to fast and engage the blades it goes crazy. I don't know what else to try.

ok so my mower isnt what i had to pick from on choices, it's just a simple little 21" MTD push mower. i recently changed the oil and changed the blade on it. never once had an issue with the mower like im having now. ive got oil basically pouring out of the airfilter, i've got to prime it every single time, for instance, i turn the mower off ( release the gas bar) to light a cig, and ive gotta prime it 4-5 times to get it to start again. mower wasnt even turned off for more than 30s. not to mention when i turn the mower off, its still running while pushing out a lot of whitish blue smoke. sometimes its more white, somethings its blue. this issue has never happened prior to changing the oil. not for certain what to do or to even make of this. *side note* prior to changing the oil today, the oil had not been changed on the mower for nearly 3 yrs. i'm not the original owner

Small Engine: murray mower wont run

My Murray rider mower with B&S engine #283707 sat at an angle this winter, started o.k. then blowing black oil and white smoke out exhaust and will not start back up. Pulled off air filter, no gas in reservoir and an oily film. Should I prime carb w/gas and try to restart? Gas had preserver in it for the winter.

Small Engine: Lawn Tractor Stopped on Hill now smoking

My neighbor borrowed my lawn tractor and stopped on a hill and now the tractor is blowing out large amounts of white smoke. I did an oil change after to try and see if that stopped the smoking but to no avail. Any thoughts on what could be or how to repair? My father in law says to just let it burn off but wanted to get another set of opinions and post a video below

I just recently took my B&S 675 apart to clean and check some things and in the midst of putting the engine back together one of the two "springs" for the throttle cable that connects to the carburetor came off. I can not for the life of me figure out how to put the bastard back on correctly, can anyone post a picture of the throttle cable springs connecting to the carburetor on this engine? This engine is on my Briggs & Stratton Earthquake auger with the 675 series engine.

Small Engine: lawn tractor gas leak

My 20 years old Murray 425600X8A ran ok before. It went bad after a small engine shop performed the tune up and changed to a mulching blade. The tractor exhaust pipe spitted gas when started, and blew a huge of white smoke then halted. The shop took the tractor back and suggested to get the engine rebuild. I don't want to spend more $ and took the tractor back. Found the fuel pipe to the carburetor was loose so I plugged it back. It is a Briggs Stratton model 31D777 type 0235E1. Ordered a fuel line clamp and try to fix it myself. I plan to rise the cutting height since the shop lowered it before. Any advice/s helping me to diagnose/fix the problem/s will be appreciated.

Ive replaced a few of the gas lines and put on a new spark plug. It will start and run if i goose the primer bulb really fast,but as soon as i stop it dies.
