Hiya,

I'm writing wikis for home appliance repair and keep running into recommending continuity and resistance testing to validate whether a part is still working. I'm listing both acceptable or typical values for different load and non-load elements. Load elements meaning any component that consumes power, and non-load meaning unrestricted paths for electricity. Here are typical values of generic and specific elements.

Load Elements:

heating elements (0-120Ω)
- ice maker mold heater (60-80Ω)
- Samsung defrost Heater (120Ω)
- Whirlpool Defrost Heater (88Ω)
solenoids (on/off > 10Ω, and regulating < 10Ω)
motors (10-200Ω)
- Ice Maker Motor (400-600Ω)
- Ice Maker Auger Motor (5-50Ω)
- submersible pumps (2MΩ)
- Dishwasher Drain Pump (15-40Ω)
- Circulation Pump (10-100Ω)
Fridge Compressor (1-50Ω)
Water Inlet Valve (500-1.5KΩ)

Non-Load Elements:

switches (0Ω- OL)
Bi-metal switch (0-1Ω)
thermostats (and thermistors 2-220KΩ...simply check continuity)
fuses (<1Ω)

Wheelchair: Wheelchair will not open fully

I have a Carex wheelchair for only less then a year, and the problem with this with wheelchair is that it will not fully open or will not spread apart at all. Upon looking closely or inspecting the chair as I push it down to open fully, I notice that at times the left or the right will not slide down, which prevents the seat from collapsing down to open fully. Because of this I am uable to open my wheelchair to open fully to allowed me to sit. At time when the wheelchair would only open halfway I have to sit in it in a tight position and Hopeing that with my weight it would force it to open up, which it dose sometimes, but now it will not open anymore. The part in which it needs to slide down which is the left and right is stuck, I tried WD40 by spraying and lubracating the bar and forcefully pushing the bar down. It work , but for only 4 days, now it’s back to square one. Is there anyone in the ifixit commmunity who are familiar with wheelchari repair, or knows how to disassemble the wheelchair? I have continuely have contacted the company (Carex) for support and help as to how I am able to repair this problem, but I have not heard or recieve any information at all. I do not want to pay addition $500 a new one, since this one is not even a year old. Please help. Thank You.

ResMed CS reports that due to cellular updates, the CDMA can no longer connect to the cloud.

Is there a way to update either the device SW or the internal modem SW to restore connectivity?

Or a way to give it access to my WiFi so that it can "Phone Home"? ResMed says that I should ask my provider. But why should a respiratory therapist or doctor know that? ResMed should provide this support (or update) to their device.

Blood pressure monitor: Need a device that will monitor blood pressure during the day

I having problems with adjusting my blood pressure medications.

Does anyone know of a wrist device that will monitor blood pressure during the day so that it will alert me to either check it with a sphygmomanometer or take my meds.

This would help prevent me from going off on rants while answering iFixit questions ;-) And a lot of you are aware I can do that!

I was in hopes that the new iWatch 4 might help monitor my atrial fibrillation (aFib). I was just about to order one but found this article stating that Apple has promised it for later:

Hello,
I am trying to repair a wheelchair and to take the motor out.
it is a quickie 646SE

For a particular metal plate to be removed there are 4 bolts to remove. I removed one already with a box and a key so I know the tools have correct mesurement when there is space to manoeuver.

But one of the 4 nuts is placed in a corner and the key is kind of too fat to get get far enough around it to hold it while i turn the box. if fact it does not hold it at all.

What to do? Would i need another kind of key?

ps There is not place for the box on this side samething for the ring at the other end of the key.

I get very high leak rates 40 to 70 L/min indicated with no mask seal alert and no warnings. Mask,tank,and tube all check good with no leaks

It is found inside body of the unit where the reservoir goes and mates with it and the removable/replaceable elbow. It is only accessible after disassembly and once removing the air pump. mine is old and covered in calcium which i am cleaning now but would like to replace as it makes whistling noises while im sleeping which wakes me up every night! THANK YOU!!!

Any time the ventilator is turned on it says ‘trending not available see the operator manual’ and some of the front panel button are not functional including alarm. According to operator manual,I checked the PCMCIA card and it seems to be ok.so what should I do?It is Philips V200 ventilator
